Exotic Animal Removal

Animal removal is a complicated topic. Although there is a balance to maintain, we tend to feel quite a bit of empathy towards animals. The DEP makes the following statement concerning this topic in the document, "Florida Park Service 2003-2004 Resource Management Annual Report."

"As with exotic plants, nuisance and exotic animals can have severe impacts on native flora and fauna, often adversely affecting rare and endangered species. Coyotes and raccoons destroy sea turtle nests and feral hogs can cause damage to rare plants. When necessary for resource protection and visitor safety, the Division removes nuisance and exotic animals in a humane manner."
