Beach Pennywort

Hydrocotyle bonariensis

Also known as water pennywort and largeleaf marsh pennywort.

There are two pennywort species in the park. The whorled pennywort differs from the beach pennywort mainly in that the leaves are smaller and the flowers are a simple umbel rather than the beach pennywort's compound umbell.

The umbell is the manner in which the flowers are arranged. A simple umbel is a group of single flowers extending from one point. A compound umbel is a group of stems extending from one point and each stem has multiple flowers.
